McPartland was a groundbreaking figure for female jazz musicians in the ‘40s and 50s whose syndicated radio program, Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz, was a cornerstone of jazz broadcasting. Marion McPartland was 95 when she passed away August 20, 2013.
