JASON MORRIS

Musician/Saxophonist | Band Leader | Vocalist | Composer | Arranger | Song Writer

This month, we are thrilled to present a special evening with Jason Morris, a renowned Barbadian musician whose journey has taken him from local stages to international recognition. A passion for music has defined Jason’s life and career, and we’re excited to share his talents with you in this intimate and beautiful setting.

Jason’s love for music began at an early age, blossoming through his involvement with the Christ Church Boy’s Primary School Band and Queen’s College Secondary School Orchestra. With the support of his community and organizations such as the Hawthorn Memorial Methodist Church and the Lindsay Wiltshire Musical Endowment Fund, Jason had the life-changing opportunity to attend the Berklee College of Music’s 2008 Summer Performance Program. There, he studied under some of the world’s best musicians, gaining invaluable insights and exposure to diverse musical styles and cultures.

His journey didn’t stop there. Jason Morris has shared the stage with legendary talents like Luther Francois and the late Detroit jazz trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. He’s performed with notable Barbadian artists such as Roger Gittens and Andre Woodvine and has played with many local bands and groups, including The Chillax Band, The 1688 Orchestra & Collective, and his own project, The Substitutes.

Whether performing jazz, reggae, classical, or pop, Jason infuses his music with passion, creativity, and innovation. He is not only a talented performer but a dedicated leader in the Barbadian arts community, having served as the former president of the Barbados Jazz Society and now as an Executive member of the Barbados Association of Creatives and Artists (BACA).
