The Barbados Jazz Society Inc. is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of Barbados Companies Act, cap. 308. The Society was incorporated in September 1992. Governance of the Society is guided by the By-Laws.
In 2011 former members of The Barbados Jazz Society Inc, along with jazz musicians and jazz supporters came together to revitalize Society and renew commitments to support the jazz genre through a program of events that encourages and promotes jazz education and live jazz music in Barbados.
The Barbados Jazz Society has a rich legacy of supporting jazz in the community and of working collaboratively with international organizations to bring talented jazz musicians to Barbados for live performances.
The Barbados Jazz Society has a history of a kaleidoscope of live concerts and jam sessions featuring Barbados’ jazz musicians with Caribbean and international artists. Jazz education has always been a key mandate through panel discussion, live telecasts with guest speakers and video presentations. Special events celebrate birthdays and significant events of Barbados’ senior musicians, and theme parties bring together members and friends of jazz. Group tours organized through BJS take jazz lovers to Caribbean and international jazz festivals.
The Barbados jazz Society is committed to promoting and elevating the image of jazz music and jazz artists in the Barbadian community.
